What I Enjoy – Shelby Carver
Shelby Carver – General Manager, Growney Motors
Family: A cat, fox, and a brand-new puppy, Geo.
What do you enjoy most about living in the North State? Definitely the sense of community. I love being in town and running into familiar faces. Plus, having the mountains, river and lake so close is hard to beat.
How long have you lived in the North State? I moved to Red Bluff shortly after turning 16. Most of my family is from Red Bluff, so it was great to finally be close to everyone. I spent a few years in Chico going to college, but didn’t waste any time moving back home.
If your personality were a vehicle, what would it be? A classic convertible! A nice combination of sentimental and unconventional, but the convertible makes it fun too.
Who is someone, living or from another time, whose courage, character or life you especially admire? Easy – my Nana! She is one of my best friends. I admire her strength, resilience and especially the way she cares for her friends and family. She’s one of those people who has always made me feel loved, supported, and like I could handle whatever life throws my way.
What’s one thing your friends or family would say is “so Shelby”? Oh geez, I am pretty predictable so that may be a long list! Fun colors on my cars, Taylor Swift or Morgan Wallen playing in the background, never leaving home without my laptop and probably doing way too much research for even the smallest decision.
If your life had a theme song, what would it be? “Mastermind” by Taylor Swift. I like to think I am pretty easy going, but there’s usually a plan… and probably a backup, too, just in case.
What’s something on your bucket list that may surprise people? Honestly, I don’t really have a bucket list. I keep rolling with whatever life throws at me and try to make it an adventure every time.
If someone handed you a plane ticket and said, “You leave tomorrow,” where would you hope you were going? Anywhere warm, hopefully with a cute coffee shop, good food and places to hunt for unique antiques.
What food could you happily eat once a week for the rest of your life? Sourdough bread. I love the simple baking and shaping, experimenting with inclusions, and then, of course, eating it.
What’s something you’ve done on a whim that turned into a great memory? Buying a Hummer and wrapping it PINK!
